August 31, 1735 - John Sergeant Ordained

John Sergeant was ordained as a missionary on August 31, 1735. He would go on to evangelize to the Mahican people of the Hudson River Valley. The Mahican chief, Konkapot, quickly realized he would not be able to defeat the white settlers and agreed to a truce. He later decided to accept the religion of the Europeans, and he was converted by Sergeant.
