October 6, 1536 - William Tyndale’s Body Burned

William Tyndale desired to publish the Bible in English, but neither Pope Paul III nor the English King Henry VIII agreed. Because of this, Tyndale fled England for Belgium to finish publishing the English Bible. Henry sent men after him who found him and strangled him to death at Vilvoorde Castle near Brussels. To make a public statement, Tyndale’s body was burned at the stake on October 6, 1536.
