September 29, 1413 - John Oldcastle Charged with Heresey

The Lollards were a group of Englishmen led by John Wycliffe who began the fight to view the supremacy of Scripture over the authority of the Pope. One famous Lollard was Sir John Oldcastle. Oldcastle was charged with heresy for his beliefs by Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Arundel on September 29, 1413. After hiding out for years, he was eventually turned in and burned alive.
