December 16, 1944 - Corrie Ten Boom’s Sister Dies in Concentration Camp
Corrie ten Boom recorded her family struggles in Amsterdam during the Nazi occupation in her famous book The Hiding Place. In their efforts to hide Jews from persecution, the family’s home was raided, and her sister Betsie was taken to the Ravensbruk concentration camp where she died on December 16, 1944. Corrie was also imprisoned at this camp. Pictured is Corrie’s room where the Jews and members of the Dutch resistance hid during the Nazi raids.
