August 20, 1527 - King Frederik Allows Protestants to Enter Denmark
When King Frederik I of Denmark was first crowned in the early 1520s, he pledged his support to the Roman Catholic Church and vowed to keep the Protestant Lutherans out of Denmark. However, on August 20, 1527, at the Diet of Odense, King Frederik decided to allow the Protestants in, and because of this, Denmark is 85% Lutheran today.
