January 30, 1536 - Menno Simons Renounces Catholicism

On January 30, 1536, a former Catholic priest named Menno Simons renounced Catholicism. He was then re-baptized by Anabaptist leader Obbe Philips. Simons went on to write extensively about doctrine and theology. It is from his work that the Mennonites were formed.
