November 16, 1855 - Dr. Livingstone Found

Dr. David Livingstone, the famous missionary, physician, and slavery-reformer saw Victoria Falls, the largest waterfall in the world, for the first time on November 16, 1855. When he saw the falls, he gave them the English name Victoria in honor of Queen Victoria. After this discovery, he continued to search for the Nile River’s source. Sixteen years later, a New York reporter found him and famously asked, “Dr. Livingstone, I presume?".
