October 9, 1561 - Colloquy of Poissy Ends
The Colloquy of Poissy ended on October 9, 1561. Held near Paris, this conference between the French Roman Catholic bishops and the Protestant ministers was unsuccessful in reaching an accord. However, it did pave the way for the 1562 Edict of St. Germain which officially recognized and gave limited freedom to French Protestantism.
