December 5, 1525 - Hans Sclaffer Arrested

The debate surrounding infant baptism has raged for centuries, but Hans Schlaffer gave his life arguing against it. A former Catholic priest, Schlaffer became an Anabaptist after his interaction with their leaders like Hans Hus in Nikolsburg, Austria (now Milulov in the Czech Republic, pictured). He was arrested on December 5, 1525, for refusing to recant his newfound belief that infant baptism is not biblical because it is not in the Bible. After his arrest and torture, he was burned at the stake a few days later.
