July 21, 1900 - Albert Schweitzer Licensed for Ministry

CHT

Albert Schweitzer is best known for his work in founding and running a hospital in Africa until he died, but he has a rather unique story. Born on the French-German border, he was officially licensed to the ministry by the Lutheran church on July 21, 1900. However, his theological views about Jesus were not consistent with Scripture: he believed Jesus was not divine and that Christ killed Himself to show the world His commitment to God. He would eventually go on to join the Universalist Church later in his life.
