October 24, 1648 - Peace at Westphalia
The end of the Thirty Years' War in Europe occurred at the Peace of Westphalia on October 24, 1648, after months of negotiations. The War was a culmination of the fights in Europe about whether the kingdom was going to remain loyal to the Roman Catholic Church or whether they would practice Protestantism. Europe was divided into several nations as a result, but this served as the footprint of the modern European nations.
