November 18, 1302 - Unam Sanctum Bull Issued
According to Roman Catholic doctrine instituted by Pope Boniface VIII on November 18, 1302, one must adhere to the authority of the Pope in order to have assurance of salvation. Known as the “Unam Sanctum” (Latin for “One Holy”), this papal bull was challenged in the subsequent centuries, culminating in the Protestant Reformation of the 1500s.
