December 10, 1968 - Swiss Theologian Karl Barth Dies
Karl Barth is renowned as one of the most influential Swiss theologians of the twentieth century. He is often known as the “Father of Neo-Orthodoxy.” He is best known for his “Commentary on the Epistle to the Romans,” which was a turning point in modern theology. He shifted the focus of theology away from the liberal Protestantism of the time and back towards the sovereignty and transcendence of God. He also took a stand with the Confessing Church against the Nazis during World War II. Karl Barth died on December 10, 1968.
