December 9, 1793 - Noah Webster Publishes First American Daily Newspaper

Before the dictionary bearing his name became a household staple, Noah Webster published the first daily newspaper in New York City called “The American Minerva” on December 9, 1793. Webster was a Christian educator and believer in the Bible. He is even quoted as saying, “All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible.”
