October 20, 1893 - Phillip Schaff Dies

Phillip Schaff was a professor at both the German Reformed Theological Seminary in Mercersburg, PA, and Union Theological Seminary in New York. Before his death on October 20, 1893, he wrote a vast array of Christian references. Among his works eight volumes of The History of the Christian Church, the Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge, The Creeds of Christendom (a three-volume set), and a study of the church fathers who wrote before and after the Council of Nicea (twenty-eight volumes).
